About the School
The Fred T. Korematsu Elementary School at Mace Rance was built in 2005 and is surrounded by 5 acres of the Mace Ranch Community Park Habitat Preserve, Mace Ranch Park and the ExplorIt Science Center.
Our school proudly provides education for children from Kindergarten through 6th Grade.
The school was named after civil rights leader Toyosaburo Fred Korematsu, who fought to eradicate discrimination of any American citizen regardless of race, creed, or color. Fred Korematsu inspired countless individuals and eventually earned a Presidential Medal of Freedom - the highest civilian honor in the United States. In 1998, President Bill Clinton presented Mr. Korematsu with this award, saying, "In the long history of our country's constant search for justice, some names of ordinary citizens stand for millions of souls. Plessy, Brown, Parks ... to that distinguished list, today we add the name of Fred Korematsu."
